Testimonials

The swims have changed my life for the better as I now outdoor swim very often. It gave me the opportunity to try it and I fell in love with outdoor swimming. My mental health is much better, and I value the time spent with the other ladies.

Participant of Open Water Swimming

Before I attended, I felt very anxious, and was suffering from depression. This course gave me a purpose and made me get out of bed. I’ve met some nice people and the trainer was excellent, helped all the way and made me feel at ease.

Participant of Horticultural Therapies

I am experiencing a huge benefit from attending. They provide me with an activity that I can look forward to each week, giving some structure and anticipation of relaxation. I feel uplifted and loved after attending the sessions. I have also enjoyed meeting fellow cancer people. I have struggled since diagnosis to have positive thoughts and these sessions provide a sanctuary of care and acceptance, reassuring me that I am enough. This has been incredibly important for my mental health. The physical benefits have been considerable too - stretching and posture exercises that can be practiced at home. Having just been made redundant and not able to apply for more work at the moment, means that yoga sessions like this are otherwise financially out of reach for me.

Cancer Champions

We are working in partnership with NHS Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin ICB, and Oswestry Community Action (OCA) – an Oswestry-based, community resource charity, to raise awareness about cancer in the wider community with a particular focus in groups where English is not their first language. We want to work with community volunteers to support and train them to become cancer champions, helping them encourage their peers to be more cancer aware and accept cancer screening invites.
