Steve’s Story
Steve was enjoying the start of his retirement when, with no symptoms, he was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) following a routine blood test. Not to let his diagnosis hold him back, Steve has kept busy participating in the Lingen Davies Wellbeing Programme and volunteering for national cancer studies.
Sophie’s Story
Sophie Jones from Llansantffraid was just 29 years old when she was diagnosed with Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer after years of symptoms and multiple trips to the doctors. Cancer had been originally ruled out as she was deemed “too young”, but biopsies eventually brought Sophie to her cancer diagnosis.
Anne’s Story
Anne was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer in 2006. Now, after more than 300 cancer treatments, her biggest worry is growing older!

A former international drugs dealer who turned his life around to help others, is now undergoing chemotherapy to ‘blast’ his cancer while working with Lingen Davies to boost fundraising. Leroy shared his unique story to highlight the power of community and peace.

Fortunately, she’s found that participating in a variety of activities from the Lingen Davies Wellbeing Programme has introduced her to a friendly community of people with shared experiences, helping her process her cancer diagnosis.
Erica’s Story
Erica assumed there had been a ‘technical error’ when asked back after a routine mammogram in 2022. Instead, she was told she had breast cancer. Now, following over two years of treatment, her life and outlook on life has completely changed.

Justine’s Story
Justine attended her first routine mammogram which was clear but two years later in September 2023 found a lump in her left breast. She phoned the GP straight away to get it checked – and it turned out to be cancer.
