iCan is a cancer support service run by our health partners Lifestyle Fitness. It is aimed at those going through cancer, as well as those living beyond treatment, to encourage and support people to live an active lifestyle and look after themselves mentally, emotionally and physically.
We are working in partnership with NHS Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin ICB, and Qube – an Oswestry-based, community resource charity, to raise awareness about cancer in the wider community with a particular focus in groups where English is not their first language. We want to work with community volunteers to support and train them to become cancer champions, helping them encourage their peers to be more cancer aware and accept cancer screening invites.
The LiveLife Cancer Awareness Service has been launched to deliver a meaningful impact on the wider community, helping people have a greater understanding about cancer, how we can live healthier lives to try and prevent it, and where to turn for assistance if there are any concerns.
We couldn’t do the work we do without our amazing volunteers and because of this we’re always looking for new enthusiastic supporters to join us.
