Judy and Karen recently volunteered at our ColourFest event to ‘give something back’ after participating in some of the free to access holistic activities funded by Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.
Judy Ingman, a member of Telford Breast Friends, took part in the iCan programme and joined the Open Water Swimming group who meet monthly at Alderford Lake in Whitchurch.
Alongside other women from the wild swimming sessions, she headed to the coast on New Year’s Day for an icy dip to raise money for us!
She said, “It was brilliant, I really needed it. I didn’t go until a year after I had my treatment which is when I felt I needed the support most so started joining everything.”
Karen Pankhurst also took part in the iCan programme and Open Water Swimming sessions, alongside joining Yoga with Flex and Flow Yoga and Pilates, and visiting Fordhall Organic Farm.
“You go through cancer and then people ask you what you’re going to do next. I just wanted to give everything a go!
“It’s good to be part of something like this, and there’s always an element of socialising. It’s good to talk to other people with similar experiences.”
