ColourFest: A trio of rainbows for charity

Whether it’s a walk in the spring sunshine, dance through rainbows, or a fast-paced run – Lingen Davies is giving everyone the chance to be part of something special this year with the introduction of ColourFest.

The event builds on the overwhelming success of previous years when we held 5km colour runs in Shrewsbury and Telford – raising over £100,000 to date to support its work in the wider community.

This year not one, not two, but three events all with a fresh new feel, will take place on the same day – spanning the charity’s large geographical patch across Shropshire and Mid Wales. Thousands of people have so far taken on the challenge to raise funds for the vital organisation which last year marked its 45th anniversary.

On Saturday, 17th May, supporters and fundraisers can choose to complete a course at either Sansaw Estate in Hadnall, Apley Farm Shop near Shifnal, or Meadow Springs Country and Leisure Park in Caersws. Fun, riotous rainbows, and lots of colour are guaranteed at all three.

Naomi Atkin, CEO of Lingen Davies, said ColourFest will be the largest event in the charity’s history and everyone on the staff team is looking forward to creating a memorable event for the Lingen Davies community.

“Our colour runs have proved overwhelmingly popular, and we have always had good crowds supporting us in Hadnall and Mid Wales. Last year we introduced the event for our Telford supporters, and we had such positive feedback we decided to do it all again … but this time make it even bigger and better.

“We have set big goals for our fundraising this year and ColourFest will really kick off our summer programme of events in style. I hope as many people can join us as possible, bring along your friends, family and colleagues and be part of something special.

Each location will have its own event HQ where participants will be able to warm up to live entertainment, embrace the colour with a face glitter station, and refuel with lots of post run treats and refreshments. A number of regional businesses have already pledged their support in order to make ColourFest a phenomenal fundraiser – Paveways, Pipekit, Dyke Yaxley and Evabuild.

Participants must pre-register to take part in the run through the charity’s website www.lingendavies.co.uk/events and the entry fee includes a t-shirt, sunglasses, and a unique finisher’s medal.

Lingen Davies Cancer Fund enhances cancer services for local people and delivers a wider range of therapy and support to those impacted by cancer in the community.

Last year the charity spent almost £1 million on equipment, projects and services to benefit local cancer patients and those living with cancer and beyond in the wider community.
