Titty Trail Shropshire 2024 was held on 12th October to mark breast cancer awareness month with an aim to get people walking and talking, breaking the taboos surrounding checking your chest and attending your cancer screenings.

More than 225 people walked 10 miles across the Shropshire Hills to raise awareness of breast cancer and boost funds for local cancer services. Along the route, walkers spotted mile markers representing different sign and symptoms of breast cancer reminding participants about the importance of regularly checking their chests.

We kept walkers fuelled for the steep ascents they faced with two refreshments stops. There was a delicious range of cakes, fruit, crisps and gourmet sausage rolls to choose from.

Emilie Kerr, Events and Marketing Coordinator, said the atmosphere was electric before, during and after the walk.

“This event is very special. Each and every walker is there for a reason beyond hiking, that could be having had a breast cancer diagnosis themselves, losing a loved one to breast cancer, or purely want to help spread the message. Seeing hundreds of people come over the hills in their Titty Trail t-shirts with smiles on their faces, enjoying our beautiful countryside is incredibly moving.

“Thank you to SY Homes and Decostitch for sponsoring the event, we rely on the support of local businesses to help make this happen so we’re very grateful to them. With special thanks to McPhillips Wellington for sponsoring the refreshment stops, treating our walkers to some delicious snacks,” she added.

And not forgetting our fabulous volunteers who give so much of their time to help Lingen Davies.
