A global supplier of veterinary equine equipment has raised thousands of pounds for Lingen Davies by supporting the charity again and again.
Med Equus, based in Whittington, Oswestry, has not only completed challenges but also provided volunteers and sponsored events to support those living with cancer and beyond. And the result has been thousands of pounds to help people living with cancer and their families across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales. Med Equus was a sponsor for Pedal the Borders, one of the region’s most successful cycling sportives, which saw people from across the country take to two wheels to complete a 25km, 60km or 100km route across the Shropshire and Mid Wales border.
The event has now raised more than £100,000 for the regional charity. But not content to just sponsor the annual event, the company also entered a team of four to take part in the challenge, as well supplying volunteers to help run a refreshment stop along the route. And staying on two wheels – Med Equus has sponsored Lingen Davies monthly cycling networking event Networking on Two Wheels too.
This event sees corporates cycling a variety of routes in the county around 30 miles – with a stop for cake along the way.
But it’s not just on wheels – Med Equus Commercial Director Michael Davies also pulled on his trainers and ran the London Marathon in April 2023 – raising over £5,000 for Lingen Davies in the process. And engineer Callum ran the Chester Marathon later the same year!
This variety of ways to support our charity shows off just what you can do to support people in need as well as just how committed Med Equus are.
Michael said: “Lingen Davies has a personal connection for myself in particular as my dad was treated at the Hamar Centre.
“When I ran the London Marathon the whole team at MED Equus really got behind me, accompanying me on some very cold training runs before work, something that’s carried on the rest of the year.
“Everyone has always got on board. Every time we do something for Lingen Davies it is a really good day for us as a team, sometimes strong bonds are built by suffering together climbing dreadfully steep hills or leaving at 5.30am on training rides!
“If companies decide to work with Lingen Davies, I firmly believe both them and your team can benefit from fundraising for this amazing charity.”
