Neighbours bring community together for fundraiser

Two neighbours from Llanymynech are celebrating after bringing the community together to raise £1,500 for local cancer patients!

A dedicated coffee morning was held in the town to raise money for Lingen Davies Cancer Fund as a thank you for care given to Roger Peate after he was diagnosed with cancer.

Roger’s neighbour, Flavia Humphreys, offered to host the coffee morning at her home to help support Roger’s wish to raise money for the long running charity.

He said, “I’ve received excellent treatment from the Lingen Davies team so wanted to do something to raise money as a way of saying thanks. My neighbour Flavia said she would host to help out.

“We did lots of poster drops to make sure people in our community knew about the event. As well as the coffee and cakes, we also had a plant stall which raised £250, and a raffle.

“It was wonderful getting people from the community together, especially as some of them have also received treatment at the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre,” he added.

Roger is full of praise for the nurses at the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital where he has been receiving treatment.

Thank you Roger, Flavia and everyone who supported this event!
