Pauline is an inspiration, now in her 80’s she has been fundraising for Lingen Davies for years…Her latest adventure was to take on Europe’s largest Zipwire!
Pauline, from Halfway House near Shrewsbury, has been a supporter of the charity for many years, and has raised thousands of pounds through an ever-increasing array of different activities.
Pauline has fundraised since she was a child, and her family has been touched by the effects of cancer. In the early days of the charity, Pauline saw that chemotherapy was being delivered in a tiny space in a clinic at the hospital, and so saw a real need for better facilities.
In the early days of the charity, Pauline was working for in ambulance control in Powys, and a team of her colleagues decided to push a bed from the Welsh border into the centre of Shrewsbury, to contribute to the appeal. This raised over £1000, and she didn’t stop there.
Over the years, she has run concerts, book sales, rummage sales and a 24 hour Whist Drive, all to support our local services. Pauline has a real taste for adventure, and on her 70th birthday she walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge. For her 80th birthday, in 2015, headed over to North Wales to have a go on the longest zipwire in Europe! Her zipwire adventure raised £2,040.57 in sponsorship, to add to her already impressive contribution. We can’t wait to see what she has planned for her 90th!
