My name is Angela and in 2016 I was diagnosed with cancer of the womb.

Surgery

I had surgery which was followed by treatment at the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre in Shrewsbury. It was thought that the treatment had been successful, but in 2018 I was told that the cancer had spread, as four new tumours were discovered, three around the pelvic area and one on the lung.

Angela's Diagnosis

Prior to my being diagnosed I had heard about the cancer centre but did not fully understand what it offered in the way of specialist cancer treatment.

The treatment I have since received has been totally invaluable, and for the centre to be located centrally, in Shrewsbury, is so beneficial to cancer patients from all over Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales.

Although daunting to be diagnosed, and subsequently receive chemotherapy treatment, it was so important that I be treated at Shrewsbury, and be looked after by such a highly professional and friendly team of Doctors and Nurses.

During this time, I made my Will. I felt that by leaving a gift in my Will to Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, in recognition of the incredible help and treatment that the centre had given me during my illness, would in turn help other cancer patients in the future.

Leaving a Gift in Your Will

It may not occur to you to leave a gift to charity but if you have been touched by the treatment given to you at Lingen Davies or know of someone who has received the same care, no matter how small an amount, this will make such a huge difference to the continued running of the centre, through funding pieces of equipment and specialist care. It will benefit thousands of people like me. It also gives you a feeling of achievement that you are doing something positive for the centre and paying back for what they have done for you.

The Lingen Davies Centre

The centre first opened in 1979 and we need to ensure that it continues to be here in Shrewsbury to provide the specialist support and care for fellow cancer patients now and in the future.
