Lingen Davies Partner with PCB Solicitors LLP

Lingen Davies Cancer Fund have partnered with PCB Solicitors LLP, who have branches across Shropshire, to write free Wills for people. Instead of their usual solicitors’ fees for drafting and executing your Will, clients are asked to make a donation to Lingen Davies Cancer Fund and in return will receive a voucher for a Free Will which you can then take to PCB Solicitors LLP.

The Will Scheme Fortnight will run from Monday 7 to Friday 18 October and during this time PCB Solicitors LLP have agreed to help 10 Lingen Davies Cancer Fund supporters to create their Wills.

Naomi Atkin, CEO of Lingen Davies Cancer Fund said “We are extremely grateful to people who leave a gift to Lingen Davies in their Will. We firmly believe that people must look after their family and friends first, but even 1% of a person’s estate can make a real contribution to charitable causes. We never ask for details of a gift someone intends to leave, and we will always look to make use of a gift in the best possible way to support our aims.

Naomi added: “Around 70% of adults in the UK don’t have a Will, and this can make it more difficult for family and friends to manage any money or property left behind. With this in mind we have decided to run this Will Scheme with the support of PCB Solicitors LLP to encourage people to think about writing a Will, and to consider leaving a gift to us in their Will. Any gift left to Lingen Davies will help us to make a positive difference to lives affected by cancer here in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales.

There is no obligation to include a gift to Lingen Davies in Wills made under this scheme, although leaving a gift in your Will is a great way to support a cause that is close to your heart. Across the UK nearly £3bn of charitable income every year comes from gifts left in Wills; making a huge contribution to vital causes”.

Whilst Lingen Davies are promoting this fortnight in October under this Will Scheme, people can of course make a Will at any time of the year’.

Rachael Stokes from PCB Solicitors LLP said “We were very pleased to support Lingen Davies with their Will Scheme. We have supported the charity in the past and are proud to be working alongside Lingen Davies again. We offer a personal and approachable service, where we will advise clients. Many people choose to leave gifts to charities in their Wills for many reasons, for example, they may not be able to help as much as they would like during their lifetime or sometimes it can be tax efficient for Inheritance Tax to make a charitable gift, or alternatively, supporting a charity can be a good alternative/reserve beneficiary. We find writing Wills in exchange for a donation is a fantastic way to raise money for just causes.”

Lingen Davies Cancer Fund raise money to make a positive difference to the lives of those affected by cancer across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales.  Around 3,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in this region every year, and all money raised by Lingen Davies goes into supporting people here, in our community.
