Our old website has been in use since 2017 and last year we felt it was time for a change – to reflect the charity’s growth, new areas of work, vision and ambition.
Not only have we become a million-pound charity in the last financial year, but we have also welcomed eight new members of staff to the team since 2020. This investment has enabled us to grow our fundraising, marketing, events programme, volunteer provision, and most meaningfully – our LiveLife Cancer Awareness Service.
We needed a website to reflect these changes and give us the profile we want as we look to the years ahead and the work we want to do.
We continue to provide ongoing support and enhancements for patients in the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre, but we are now reaching out into the wider community too – to raise cancer awareness, help people spot the signs and symptoms of cancer, and ultimately prevent it.
The new website highlights the vision for our LiveLife service. We are now delivering a vital health service to communities throughout our region, as well as continuing to fundraise and generate additional income streams. We are working alongside regional health partners to raise awareness about cancer in some of our most deprived areas, as well as working with corporate supporters, community groups and organisations to access their members, employees and networks, and share our living well message.
Lingen Davies Cancer Fund exists to make a positive difference to lives affected by cancer throughout Shropshire, Telford and Mid Wales. We know that as it stands one in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. We have a lot of work to do to support growing numbers of patients – and their families.
If you haven’t already done so look around the site – read our patient and volunteer stories, browse our events listings, see the latest LD news and social media feeds, find out how you can get involved by organising your own event or taking part in a fundraising activity. There’s lots of information about donating to Lingen Davies, supporting us by purchasing from our online shop, and links for places to turn if you need help and support dealing with cancer.
