Cancer Champions: We’re on the lookout for hairdressers and barbers

Are you a hairdresser or barber based in Shropshire or Telford & Wrekin? Our Cancer Champions team are hosting a special training session dedicated to local hairdressers and barbers. Being a Cancer Champion involves having informed everyday conversations within your community and hairdressers and barbers are some of the best placed to do so with the clients treating the salon as a safe space to chat.

Shrewsbury based hairdresser and recently trained Cancer Champion, Sarah has recognised the value in the initiative and shares her experiences in the video below.

The Cancer Champions team will be hosting a special training event dedicated to hairdressers and barbers at Meole Brace Trinity Centre on Monday, 29th January. To book a place, contact [email protected].

The project has so far recruited and trained over 170 local people as Cancer Champions who are now having conversations within their community to raise awareness about the signs and symptoms of cancer and encourage people to take up cancer screening invitations.
