  • Description

The stunning grounds of Sansaw Estate make for a picturesque morning of fun in aid of Lingen Davies Cancer Fund! As you make your way round the 5k course, we’ll make sure our volunteers are primed and ready to douse you in colour powder at the four colour stations along the route…ending the day with a clean t-shirt is not an option!!

We ask that under 18s receive consent from a legal guardian to take part, and that under 16s are accompanied by an adult during the event, including on the course.

  • Location

The Shrewsbury Colour Run is a non-competitive 5K route around the beautiful Sansaw Estate. The event HQ is located at what.three.words: student.dignify.troubled. https://w3w.co/student.dignify.troubled

We are implementing a one-way traffic system to reduce congestion on the roads – please respect this. If you are approaching from Yorton (Station Road), please continue to the B5476 and turn left & left again. We will have marshals on the junctions to direct people, as well as signage, and have also attached a map showing the one-way route.

  • Run Times and Info

We now only have spaces for our 1pm wave, which you can sign-up to on the day. Dependant on numbers, included in your entry fee is a white t-shirt, sunglasses and medal; these can all be collected at registration on the day.

  • Registration Fees

On-the-day entries will be available for the 1pm wave! Entry fees will be adult (£25) and children (£9) – the slight increase in ticket cost is to cover our processing fees.

  • Rules & Requirements

As the course is off-road on rural land, there may be uneven ground and unpredictable surfaces; for this reason, we advise no pushchairs or wheelchairs on the course; you are absolutely welcome to spectate!

Sadly, we do not allow dogs (including guide dogs) on site, due to the health risk to the animal.

  • FAQs

    What time should I arrive?

Please arrive for registration between 30-45 minutes before your start time. Every runner will need to register before they can take part; registration will be alphabetical by surname and you’ll be able to pick up your t-shirt and sunglasses here.

There is parking on site for all participants, and signs to show you where to go when you get there.

What do I need to wear?

You will have selected at sign-up if you’d like a t-shirt. If you did, you’ll receive this at registration, but please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting covered in powder paint! Depending on the weather, you may wish to wear a layer to go underneath your t-shirt. As this is an off-road course, the ground is uneven and unpredictable in some places, so please ensure your footwear is suitable for all terrains.

What if the paint gets in my eyes?

All participants are asked to wear the sunglasses you will receive.  Not only will everyone look way more cool, but it will greatly reduce the chances of colour getting in your eyes.  However, never fear, the colour is non-toxic, a simple rinse with water will take care of it.

Remember, should you prefer to wear your own eyewear, no problem at all.  Whilst the sunglasses are adult size, smaller kids may find them tricky to run with, so please bring your own eyewear for small children. (swimming goggles, own glasses, sunglasses etc.)

Please note the sunglasses do not conform to UV standards, they are for fun only and to keep the powder away from your eyes.

Will the powder paint wash out of my clothes/skin/hair?

Yes! The easiest way to get the paint off is while it’s still dry (shake, wiggle, jump up and down, vacuum, etc). After that, soap and water, with a little rinse and repeat action will do the trick.

    Will there be water available?

As a charity, we are trying to reduce the amount of plastic we use, and we also want to keep the farmland we have been gifted for this event, as tidy and safe as possible, therefore, we won’t be placing water stations along the route – if you would like water during the run, please bring your own. We are encouraging our supporters to be as plastic-free as possible; please try to bring a reusable bottle with you. There will be water re-fill stations available at the start/finish point of the Shrewsbury Colour Run, so you can stay hydrated!

Will there be shower facilities for after the run?

There are no shower facilities on site. We recommend you bring something to cover your car seats for the journey home. Perhaps an old towel, or binbags.

Will I be able to see my time?

As this is a non-competitive route, we will not be keeping a record of track times. If you would like to know this, we recommend you use an app such as Strava to record this.

Will there be somewhere I can leave my belongings?

We ask that you keep your belongings in your car and avoid bringing valuables with you.

Are cameras and phones safe to have around the course?

Our friendly Colour Run photographers will be around the course taking photos. If you fancy taking photos yourself, it’s probably best done at the end especially as those colourful powder particles are sneaky. Lingen Davies Cancer Fund are not liable for any damage that might be done to your camera or phone!

How do I donate my sponsor money?

If you have collected all of your sponsor money by 4th May, you can bring it along to the Colour Run. You can donate the funds you have raised at registration, simply let them know. If you are planning to do this, please return your sponsor forms with the money you are donating, in a sealed envelope, with your name on the front.

If you’re still raising your funds, don’t worry! You can donate these up until 30th June. Here’s how you can donate. You’ve already raised over £3,500…amazing!!! Can you help us get to our £15,000 target?! It’s not too late to set up an online giving page – get started here.

What’s going on at the Shrewsbury Colour Run?

We’re pleased to be joined by Winsbury Dairy and their milkshake trailer – who doesn’t love a milkshake?

We’ll also have a delicious BBQ on the go, with meat from Bradley’s Butchers, and hot and cold drinks available. Prices will range from 60p to £3.50; cash is preferred but card machines will be available, with a minimum spend of £5 on card.

Don’t miss out on glamming up for your run! Visit our volunteers on the glitter station for some face glitter magic…£2 per person. And don’t forget to buy your own 100g bag of powder to douse whoever you like – just £1 a pouch!! NEW for this year, we will have colourful accessories for sale too!

Spectators are very welcome at the Shrewsbury Colour Run, including dogs on leads (but please clean-up after them). Make a morning of it and bring the whole family along.

  • About the Colour Run

To date, the Shrewsbury Colour Run has raised thousands of pounds for our charity to support people affected by cancer, due to the hard work of our colourful runners who raised money for us – can you help us boost that in 2024? We’d love it if adults could raise £50 and children £25 in addition to their entry fee; we appreciate it’s not always easy to gain sponsorship, so whatever you can raise will help.
