More than 200 people well and truly had their tastebuds tickled on Tuesday, 14th October for the first of a much-loved dining event being held under new ownership.
Shrewsbury’s Secret Supper sees guests arrive for a welcome drink at Tanners, with a three-course meal on the cards – at unknown destinations around the town centre. October’s event, organised for the first time by Lingen Davies Cancer Support saw diners treated to the delights of The Loopy Shrew, Beefy Boys, St Vincents, CSONS, Ol’Chemist and Number Four.
The popular dining extravaganza has been hosted by Self Help Africa previously, raising thousands of pounds for the international charity. Funds from the tasty treat are now going to support local cancer services and will make a positive difference to lives impacted by cancer throughout Shropshire and Mid Wales.
Steph Smith and Sophie Crockford from Lingen Davies organised the evening which was met with high praise and raised the brilliant total of £11,500.
Steph said: “There was such a feel-good atmosphere around the streets of Shrewsbury on an otherwise quiet Tuesday night as groups of curious people were led by teams of volunteers to their next mystery restaurants.
“People who began the evening as strangers quickly became friends when their childlike excitement came out upon receiving their surprise starter, main, and dessert.
“We’re so grateful to the local community for continuing to support Shrewsbury’s Secret Supper, plans are already underway for the next one in the spring. Last night sold out a month ahead of schedule so I would urge people to sign up as soon as possible for next year,” she added.
