As we enter the start of the ‘ber’ months, let’s look back at some of the exciting things we’ve been up to in August.
Sunflower fun
Our team headed to Shropshire Petal Fields in Newport to pick as many sunflowers as we could to raise awareness and vital funds for our £5million Sunflower Appeal to develop cancer services and double chemotherapy capacity in the region. We’re very grateful to Shropshire Festivals, Shropshire Petals, and Dave Reynolds – one of our London Marathon 2026 runners – for their generosity!
To further promote our appeal, we’ve been hosting regular community events outside Meeting Point House in Telford to chat with our community about the appeal and what it means for those living in our region. This month we were even joined by Councillor Eileen Callear, Mayor of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin. More dates coming soon – watch this space!
On the road
We travelled to Aberystwyth and Bishop’s Castle to practice the routes for our upcoming Titty Trails in October. Beautiful views and wonderful company, what’s not to love? We hope you’ll join us this October to help us raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and boost funds for local cancer services.
We also visited the Malinslee Big Picnic in Telford where we chatted with Councillors Shaun Davies and Elise Davies, and the Shropshire Chamber breakfast networking sessions where we were invited to present to the Oswestry group about the vital work we do as a local charity.
Our LiveLife team joined the Cancer Awareness Bus Tour to bring vital cancer information, free advice, and local support to our community. With more dates to come, this is not to be missed! No appointment required.
Cancer awareness
We were proud to run the first ever Cancer Champion training session in Brecon. This session saw a great group come together to learn more about having potentially life-changing conversations about cancer.
Our LiveLife team also headed to Newtown Football Club to film some videos with the football team about our Cancer Champions training. You can see these on the Cancer Champions website.
Celebrations
At the end of each month we always have so much to celebrate – from the efforts of our generous supporters to acknowledging the passion of the people who work in local cancer services.
August saw our team visit Newtown Football Club to support the EvaBuild Football Tournament to raise funds for us. The event raised over £7,300 – an impressive total that have a big impact on making a positive difference to local people living with and beyond cancer.
