LD Trustee to lead national radiology programme

One of the 13 trustees working to shape the future of the charity and local cancer services, has been appointed to a national programme of work to reduce waiting lists and ensure radiology services across the country deliver high quality, and efficient care.

Dr Laurence Ginder, a consultant musculoskeletal and general radiologist at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the new clinical lead for radiology for NHS England’s (NHSE) Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme. He will work alongside Dr Suzanne Wakely, a consultant radiologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, who has been appointed as a clinical advisor, they will take forward actions informed by GIRFT’s recent review of Imaging Networks to ensure patients can access excellent cancer services.

Dr Ginder joined the board of trustees last year (2025) and along with Dr Amruta Lacy-Colson is one of the two practicing medics helping to inform and shape Lingen Davies’ strategic direction. Dr Ginder has also served as regional clinical lead for imaging at NHSE for the East and West Midlands, providing strategic clinical leadership across regional imaging services.

Dr Ginder said: “I’m really looking forward to working with colleagues across the country to build on the excellent work of the GIRFT radiology team, reducing unwarranted variation in radiology services, sharing best practice, and supporting teams to deliver safe, high quality diagnostics for patients.

“GIRFT provides a powerful framework that brings together data, clinical insight and collaboration to drive meaningful and sustainable improvement.”

Dr Ginder will continue at SaTH as Associate Medical Director alongside this new role, as well as volunteering as a Lingen Davies trustee.

Tim Cooper, Chair of Trustees, said congratulations to Laurence on being recognised in this way.

“The board of trustees is made up of people keen to donate their time to shaping local cancer services and ensuring those living with and beyond cancer are well supported. Our volunteer trustees have a wide variety of backgrounds, skills and talents, and we’re delighted that we have people of the calibre of Dr Ginder and Dr Lacy-Colson who are working in the field today, and are bringing their experience and tremendous knowledge to benefit Lingen Davies Cancer Support.

“Congratulations to Laurence for this recognition.”
