Connecting with Lingen Davies

Sheila has been involved with Lingen Davies ever since it was founded as the Cobalt Unit Fund in 1979. The firm she was working for at the time organised a sponsored bike ride in support of the Fund to build a centre for local cancer services.

Supporting Lingen Davies

From then on, her involvement with the charity has grown – Sheila and her husband continued to support the charity. She began by selling Christmas cards in the Lingen Davies Centre when she was diagnosed with breast cancer; Sheila felt it was all the more worth it to support the local charity who was supporting her.

I’m here to help wherever the charity needs me. I have spare time to give and what better way to do it.

Fundraising and Volunteering

After Sheila’s husband passed away, she found she had more time on her hands and would like to use it towards a good cause. She called into the fundraising office one day to offer her time and has been an office volunteer ever since! We get the pleasure of seeing Sheila every Tuesday afternoon where she helps with tasks such as counting money, addressing mail-out envelopes and being creative with donated goods. She makes the most of fundraising opportunities by upcycling and selling old jewellery, collecting and counting foreign coins, creating reindeer dust at Christmas, making lavender bags for us to sell and many other creative projects!

Thank You Sheila

Her time is invaluable to us and she is always willing to volunteer at events we need help with! Sheila can always be counted on to offer her time…she’ll be seen helping with supermarket collections, manning charity stalls and selling her goods in aid of the charity.

Sheila has so far helped raise more than £35,000 for the charity from her fundraising efforts – a phenomenal contribution.
