Cancer Doesn’t Wait. Nothing Stands in its Way.

Cancer is a disease that currently affects one in two of us – regardless of gender, race, social status, religion or sexuality.

The Impact of COVID-19

Unsurprisingly the COVID-19 outbreak has impacted on the numbers of people getting a diagnosis. While many of us adhered to government guidelines and stayed at home to protect the NHS, current statistics from Cancer Research UK state that more than 2,300 cancer cases went undiagnosed across the UK every week.

Working to Enhance Local Cancer Services

Going forward this means more people will be diagnosed with illness later in the development of the disease, meaning they will potentially need more aggressive treatment options.

Our most recent cancer appeal fundraiser addressed the growing demand for more space and more efficient technology to deal with ever-growing numbers of new diagnoses going through the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre.

We have funded and installed a new CT scanner which has greater functionality and features allowing for more efficient and targeted treatment options. It will enable more patients to be dealt with on a daily basis, as will the three new clinic rooms recently constructed and equipped through our fundraising.

Continuing to Enhance Cancer Treatment

We will continue to keep fundraising for vital pieces of equipment and new technology that enhances the treatment options available to our patients. We are also working hard through our LiveLife Cancer Awareness Service to prevent cancer in the first place by helping people help themselves to make informed lifestyle decisions. We are encouraging people to seek treatment earlier, not to ignore any worrying symptoms, and to take all the support available to live their lives well – during and after their diagnosis.

LiveLife Cancer Awareness Service

Our LiveLife Cancer Awareness Service is a free health-promotion service available to communities throughout Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid-Wales.

Why Not Get Involved and Volunteer?

We couldn’t do the work we do without our amazing volunteers and because of this we’re always looking for new enthusiastic supporters to join us.
