Unsurprisingly the COVID-19 outbreak has impacted on the numbers of people getting a diagnosis. While many of us adhered to government guidelines and stayed at home to protect the NHS, current statistics from Cancer Research UK state that more than 2,300 cancer cases went undiagnosed across the UK every week.
We will continue to keep fundraising for vital pieces of equipment and new technology that enhances the treatment options available to our patients. We are also working hard through our LiveLife Cancer Awareness Service to prevent cancer in the first place by helping people help themselves to make informed lifestyle decisions. We are encouraging people to seek treatment earlier, not to ignore any worrying symptoms, and to take all the support available to live their lives well – during and after their diagnosis.
