We are Lingen Davies Cancer Fund; we exist to make a positive difference to lives affected by cancer in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin & Mid Wales.
As part of our new strategic plan, the charity is keen to support our community be raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of the most common cancers, and encouraging people to take part in screening programmes- they really can be a lifesaver!
Dr Bruce Eden, a trustee of Lingen Davies and retired GP, has launched a series of talks aimed at raising awareness and busting myths around symptoms and diagnosis. Bruce has a wealth of experience in supporting people with cancer. He was Clinical Chair of Shropshire Primary Care Trust 2001-2006, and Primary Care Lead for the Greater Midlands Cancer Network 2009-2013. Bruce has been a trustee of the charity since 2009, and while he no longer practises medicine, his clinical and local knowledge is a real asset to the board.
He is currently focussing on the most commonly occurring cancers- Breast, Bowel, Prostate and Lung. Bruce’s first talk was hosted by Oswestry Rotary Club in April, and was really well received by the group, who commented that the talk was informative, accessible and not too scary!
If you would like to arrange for Bruce to visit your group, please contact Naomi Atkin, Executive Officer, on firstname.lastname@example.org
Talks can be modified to meet the needs of your group, or to focus more specifically on a type of cancer. There is no charge for our talks, but all donations to the charity are gratefully received.
